[1] Law Firm Party Building Report – Party Building Leads High-Quality Development of Law Firms
Today, a gathering of distinguished minds, entrusted by the Party organization and the director's office meeting, I present the following Party building report to all colleagues. In June 2023, the Party Leadership Group of the Ministry of Justice put forward five hopes for lawyers, encouraging us to adhere to correct value orientations and be practitioners of the rule of law, patriotic strivers, defenders of justice, promoters of development, and guardians of righteousness. In December, I participated in the secretary training course jointly organized by the Central Organization Department, the Central Party School, and the Ministry of Justice, taught by relevant leaders and experts from the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervisory Commission, the Central Organization Department, the Central Political and Legal Affairs Commission, the Central Party School, and the Ministry of Justice. After graduating from the Shenzhen Party School, I have been eager to share my learning experiences with all colleagues in the firm. Through this training, I realized that "Chinese-style modernization" is the biggest political task at present, which can be understood by quoting the Four Maxims of Hengqu—to ordain conscience for Heaven and Earth, to secure life and fortune for the people, to continue lost teachings for past sages, and to establish peace for all future generations. This is not my invention but an interpretation by a professor from the Central Party School. "Chinese-style modernization" inevitably features "rule of law," and a rule-of-law China must rely on lawyers who serve the people. So, what is the positioning of lawyers in "Chinese-style modernization"? There is no final answer yet; I recommend reading "The Science of Lawyers." While studying others, we must also earnestly understand ourselves. What left a deep impression on me is that whether from the Central Political and Legal Affairs Commission or the Ministry of Justice, when mentioning lawyers, they emphasize them as an "important component," albeit with different modifiers. More notably, they negate the perception of lawyers as freelancers. Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, Party building in law firms has been comprehensively strengthened. The Central Organization Department pointed out through investigations that the partnership model under a human-combination structure has centrifugal forces, while organizing Party life can consolidate spirit and strength. Party building and firm building are naturally complementary. All comrades should fully leverage the core role of Party building in the high-quality development of law firms. Currently, we implement the "Six-Combination Work Method" for social organization Party building, namely organizational combination, work combination, institutional combination, supervisory combination, resource combination, and activity combination. Increasingly more resources will converge toward the Party branch. Finally, I emphasize: Only with a strong Party organization can the law firm's legacy be achieved; only with Party organization guidance can high-quality development of the law firm be realized; only with correct political direction can achievements be made in legal practice. Corresponding to the earlier Four Maxims of Hengqu, I think we can cite Mu Shu's Three Establishments—the highest is to establish virtue, the next is to establish merit, and the next is to establish words. I wish all lawyers excellence in both virtue and skill, a leap in business, and I wish our colleagues happiness at work and doubled salaries, sharing in the thriving joy of the firm. Thank you!
