Accused of Aiding Prostitution, Defense Secured Reduced Sentence
In March 2012, defendants Deng XX and Liang XX were charged by the Futian District People's Court with aiding and abetting organized prostitution, and the case was brought to public prosecution before the Futian District People's Court. In May 2012, the Futian District People's Court issued a first-instance judgment that completely overturned the prosecution's charge of assisting in organizing prostitution. Although the judgment ultimately found the defendant guilty of harboring and introducing prostitution, its substance undoubtedly adopted the defense counsel's acquittal arguments regarding the charged offense, resulting in a sentence of only 7 to 9 months of criminal detention.
