[Lead Lawyer: Wang Tengfeng, Cao Guanghui, Zhang Qingping]

One day in late November 2009, the party Chen Hongxiu, introduced by a friend, sought out Wang Tengfeng, a lawyer at Guangdong Zhiming Law Firm. After an initial briefing, the case involved his daughter Chen Wei, who was admitted to Shenzhen Henggang People's Hospital on October 25, 2009, due to physical discomfort. She was later diagnosed with an ectopic pregnancy. After 12 days of hospitalization at Henggang People's Hospital, her condition worsened, and she was transferred to Peking University Shenzhen Hospital. However, her condition did not improve but continued to deteriorate, and she died on November 12, 2009. After taking on the case, Lawyer Wang Tengfeng repeatedly organized the handling lawyer Cao Guanghui and assistant lawyer Zhang Qingping to discuss the case, finding it complex and further complicated by medical knowledge. Two strategies were devised: negotiation or filing a lawsuit. During the case, Lawyer Cao sacrificed many weekends to study medical records and draft complaints at the law firm. Under Wang Tengfeng's guidance and Cao's arrangements, Lawyer Zhang Qingping also repeatedly went to the Shenzhen Health Bureau, Longgang District Health Bureau, Henggang People's Hospital, and Peking University Shenzhen Hospital to investigate and gather evidence.

With full respect for the parties' opinions, Lawyer Cao and assistant lawyer Zhang Qingping also repeatedly negotiated with the legal representative of Shenzhen Henggang People's Hospital, hoping to settle the case through mediation. However, initially, Henggang Hospital took a tough stance, claiming it would not mediate until the Medical Association or court determined whether it was at fault, the extent of its fault, whether compensation was due, and the amount. After failed mediation, the case was filed in court on February 14, 2010. During the submission of sealed medical records, Lawyer Cao meticulously noticed that the hospital's sealed records lacked an admission notice from Shenzhen Henggang People's Hospital, suspecting tampering. He repeatedly demanded a clear explanation from Henggang Hospital. On August 20, 2010, after thorough preparation, Lawyer Cao and Lawyer Zhang Qingping attended the medical malpractice technical appraisal at the Shenzhen Medical Association. During the appraisal, Lawyer Cao vigorously argued for the party, detailing the hospital's medical errors to the experts. Feeling immense pressure, Henggang Hospital later called several times to negotiate a settlement. After arduous efforts and repeated negotiations, on September 7, 2010, assistant lawyer Zhang Qingping went to Henggang Court and reached a mediation agreement with representatives from Shenzhen Henggang People's Hospital and Peking University Shenzhen Hospital. On the afternoon of September 9, 2010, Henggang People's Hospital paid 390,000 yuan in compensation. The parties expressed satisfaction and presented banners to express gratitude to Lead Lawyer Wang Tengfeng, Lawyer Cao Guanghui, and Lawyer Zhang Qingping. This case once again demonstrated the firm's lawyers' professionalism and high-level skills.
