Lawyer Zheng Fengdan successfully applies for Shenzhen's first marital "personal safety protection order"
In late 2012, Ms. Wen (pseudonym, from Shenzhen), unable to endure domestic violence, filed for divorce from her husband Yi (from another city). He pushed her off the balcony, nearly causing her to fall. Later, Yi even choked Ms. Wen in court and repeatedly threatened to kill her with thugs.
After accepting Ms. Wen’s divorce case, Guangdong Zhiming Law Firm’s lead attorney Zheng Fengdan recognized the urgency. In July 2013, she applied to a Shenzhen People’s Court for a personal safety protection order for Ms. Wen. With strong evidence, Attorney Zheng fully demonstrated the necessity and urgency of the order. The Shenzhen court ruled that Ms. Wen met the conditions, prohibiting her husband Yi from beating, threatening, or harassing her, and barring him from coming within 200 meters of her workplace or residence.
