Lawyer Zheng Fengdan successfully applies for Shenzhen's first marital "personal safety protection order"

In late 2012, Ms. Wen (pseudonym, a Shenzhen resident), who could no longer endure domestic violence, filed for divorce from her husband Yi (an out-of-towner). He pushed her onto the balcony, nearly causing her to fall to her death. Subsequently, Yi even choked Ms. Wen by the throat in court at one point, and repeatedly summoned thugs, threatening to kill her.

After Guangdong Zhiming Law Firm accepted Ms. Wen's divorce case, the lead attorney, Zheng Fengdan, recognized the urgency of the situation. In July 2013, she applied to a People's Court in Shenzhen for a "personal safety protection order" on behalf of Ms. Wen. Supported by compelling evidence, Attorney Zheng Fengdan thoroughly demonstrated the necessity and urgency of issuing the protection order. As a result, the Shenzhen court ruled that Ms. Wen met the criteria and prohibited her husband, Mr. Yi, from continuing to beat, threaten, or harass her, and also barred him from appearing within a 200-meter radius of her workplace and residence.
