Attorney Qiao Xiaoyu of our firm recently published a legal paper entitled "A Brief Discussion on How to Compensate for Urban Housing Demolition" in the national-level important journal Zizhi Wenzhai (Issue 1, 2009). Zizhi Wenzhai is supervised by the General Administration of Press and Publication of the People’s Republic of China and sponsored by the Information Center of the General Administration of Press and Publication and the Jiangxi Publishing Group. It is a high-level platform that integrates politics, economics, education, science and technology, and management, relies on academic research, and provides a forum for government leaders, economic managers, and academic authorities to discuss public administration. It is a national-level high-end theoretical authority journal in the categories of political theory, finance and economic management, and education and social sciences. The journal is distributed on a complimentary basis to principal officials of ministries and commissions under the State Council, provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions; officials of provincial capitals and major cities; directors of personnel bureaus and education commissions at the provincial, municipal, and prefectural levels across the country; and presidents and party committee secretaries of universities nationwide, among other institutions and individuals. Attorney Qiao’s paper provides an incisive analysis of the connotation, characteristics, and current status of China’s urban housing demolition system, and offers distinctive views on the definition and procedures of compensation systems for urban housing demolition and land expropriation as well as the principles of such compensation systems. The paper is of great reference value for the lawful conduct of housing demolition and compensation in old urban district redevelopment across various cities in China, and has practical significance for government departments at all levels in strengthening the lawful management of urban construction.
Lawyer Qiao Xiaoyu is a young female lawyer in our firm with a solid foundation in legal theory, rich case-handling experience, and a diligent and studious nature.
