[Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of Justice] Provincial Interview Assessment Examiner Training for Interns Held in Shenzhen

On November 4-5, 2016, the Guangdong Provincial Lawyers Association hosted and the Shenzhen Lawyers Association organized a provincial training for interview examiners of internship assessment in Shenzhen. Attendees included Chen Xikang, Vice President of the Guangdong Provincial Lawyers Association; Wang Tengfeng, Deputy Supervisor; the Director, Deputy Directors, and all members of the Internship Committee of the Guangdong Provincial Lawyers Association; leaders from various municipal lawyers associations in charge of internship work; directors of internship committees; and relevant heads of secretariats. Gao Shu, President of our association; Xiong Songqing, Director of the Lawyer and Notary Public Management Division of the Shenzhen Municipal Justice Bureau; Huang Sizhou, Vice President; and all interview examiners for internship assessment of our association participated in the training. The training was moderated by Zhou Xuan, Deputy Director of the Internship Committee of the Shenzhen Lawyers Association.

Since the establishment of the Ninth Lawyers Association, the Internship Committee of the Shenzhen Lawyers Association has handled 3,692 applications for internship certificates and 2,625 applications for interview assessments. It has organized 230 interview assessment sessions, with 2,644 participants, and arranged 690 interviewer assignments. The 185 interviewers of the Shenzhen Lawyers Association have played a positive role in safeguarding the industry entry threshold for the Shenzhen lawyer community.

Director Xiong Songqing, on behalf of the Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of Justice, expressed gratitude to the provincial and municipal bar associations for their strong support of the Shenzhen Bar Association's work related to interns. He pointed out that the Shenzhen Bar Association has achieved normalization, refinement, and informatization of internship interview assessments through a series of solid measures, such as refining and improving the internship management system, pioneering a diversified examiner composition mechanism, and developing an internship management and assessment system. Lawyers play an important role in economic construction, social construction, the comprehensive advancement of rule-of-law governance, and reform and opening-up, undertaking significant missions. The internship assessment work serves as the first line of defense in building the lawyer workforce, concerning the future and development of the entire profession, with arduous tasks and a glorious mission. It is hoped that under the guidance of the provincial department and provincial bar association, with the support of lawyer colleagues across the province, and through the joint efforts of all examiners, the interview assessment work for interns will achieve better and greater results.
