At the end of 2016, a labor contract dispute arose between Xia and Gehan Company. Xia believed that after terminating the labor contract, the company should increase compensation beyond the original amount. Gehan Company disagreed with Xia's compensation demands, leading Xia to apply for labor arbitration; the arbitration tribunal ultimately ruled that Gehan Company must pay Xia compensation and overtime pay. In early 2017, dissatisfied with the arbitration result, Xia filed a lawsuit against his former employer Gehan Company, seeking court support for claims including year-end bonuses. Faced with Xia's persistent demands, Gehan Company approached Guangdong Zhiming Law Firm and entrusted the Wang Tengfeng legal team to handle the case.

After carefully studying the case, they discovered that the so-called "employee handbook" submitted by Xia did not bear the official seal of Gehan Company and thus lacked legal validity under the "Labor Law" and "Labor Contract Law."
