At the end of 2016, a labor contract dispute arose between Xia and Ge Mouhan Company. Xia believed that after terminating the labor contract, Ge Mouhan Company should increase the compensation amount on top of the original compensation. Ge Mouhan Company disagreed with Xia's compensation demands, so Xia applied for labor arbitration. Ultimately, the arbitration tribunal ruled that Ge Mouhan Company should pay Xia compensation, overtime pay, and other amounts. In early 2017, dissatisfied with the labor arbitration result, Xia filed a lawsuit against his former employer Ge Mouhan Company, requesting the court to support the latter's payment of year-end bonuses and other compensation claims. Faced with the relentless Xia, Ge Mouhan Company found Guangdong Zhiming Law Firm and entrusted lawyers from Wang Tengfeng's team to assist in responding to the lawsuit.

For this relatively straightforward labor contract dispute case, attorneys Zhang Qingping and Guo Yixuan from Wang Tengfeng's legal team remained highly diligent. After carefully studying the case, they discovered that the so-called “Employee Handbook” submitted by Xia did not bear the official seal of G'mouhan Company and therefore lacked legal effect under the Labor Law, the Labor Contract Law, and other relevant laws. As a result, Xia's claim for “year-end bonus compensation” was unfounded.
