Our firm was invited to attend the main venue of the first event of "Commercial Mediation: The Preferred Dispute Resolution"
On the afternoon of March 1, 2023, the Shenzhen Judicial Bureau, Shenzhen Intermediate People's Court, Shenzhen Federation of Industry and Commerce, and Shenzhen Securities Regulatory Bureau jointly held the Shenzhen Commercial Mediation Promotion Theme Event (main venue) "Commercial Mediation: Dispute Resolution Preferred" at Changfu Jinmao Building in Futian Free Trade Zone. Chen Kaiwei, Party Branch Secretary of Guangdong Zhiming Law Firm, was invited to attend the meeting. Four other sub-venues focused on topics such as finance, intellectual property, cross-border e-commerce, urban renewal and land consolidation, and international commercial mediation.
At the main venue, Du Guijun, Director of the Division for Public Participation and Promotion of Rule of Law of the Guangdong Provincial Department of Justice, Cao Hailei, Member of the Party Committee of the Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of Justice and Secretary of the Party Committee of the Shenzhen Lawyers Industry, and Huang Zhijian, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Vice President of the Shenzhen Intermediate People's Court, delivered speeches respectively, elaborating on the encouragement and support from national and local governments for commercial mediation mechanisms. Commercial mediation in China has gradually developed into a relatively important mechanism for diversified dispute resolution. In March 2022, Shenzhen passed the "Shenzhen Special Economic Zone Regulations on Diversified Resolution of Conflicts and Disputes," becoming the first in the country to make special provisions for "commercial mediation," which is conducive to improving the business environment. As of now, with the approval of the municipal and district-level judicial administrative departments, a total of seven commercial mediation organizations have been established, with 927 registered mediators. Among them, several lawyers, including Chen Kaiwei from our firm, have been selected as mediators for the aforementioned commercial mediation organizations.
This event released the Shenzhen commercial mediation promotional video and the Shenzhen commercial mediation visual identity. Representatives from 25 enterprises, including the Shenzhen Copyright Association, the Shenzhen Supply Chain Finance Association, the Shenzhen Small and Medium Enterprises Investment and Financing Chamber of Commerce, and the Shenzhen Small and Medium Enterprises Development Promotion Association, jointly signed the "Mediation First" plan, agreeing to make commercial mediation the preferred method for dispute resolution.
Subsequently, the Shenzhen Intermediate People's Court, the Shenzhen Notary Office, and commercial mediation organizations respectively demonstrated the specific applications and development prospects of commercial mediation from their respective fields, sparking lively discussions.
