[2] [Shenzhen Bar Association] The Municipal Bar Association Holds a Press Conference
On the afternoon of August 4, the Shenzhen Lawyers Association held a press meeting, where the working team of the 10th Shenzhen Lawyers Association made its first public appearance to the media. Nineteen journalists from 17 media outlets, including Legal Daily, Voice of Huaxia of China National Radio, Nanfang Daily, Southern Metropolis Daily, Yangcheng Evening News, Shenzhen Evening News, Shenzhen Economic Daily, Jingbao, Shenzhen TV, and Shenzhen Radio, attended the press meeting. Lin Changchi, President of the Shenzhen Lawyers Association; Vice Presidents Zhang Cheng, Cai Hua, Yang Xiao, Yin Chenggang, and Wang Tengfeng; Secretary-General Wang Hong; Council Members Li Junqiang and Gao Wenjie; and Deputy Directors of the Publicity Committee Yang Yindi and Wang Ning attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Chen Wei, Director of the Publicity Committee.
[3] Vice President Wang Tengfeng expressed gratitude to the news media for their support and attention to the development of Shenzhen's legal profession, introduced the history of the Shenzhen Bar Association and the growth of Shenzhen lawyers, the formation of the tenth Bar Association working team, and the composition of specialized, professional, and district lawyer working committees. He stated that the Shenzhen Bar Association will keep pace with the times, forge ahead with determination, and carry out various tasks vigorously and orderly, striving to improve the publicity work of the current Bar Association, establish a good professional image for Shenzhen lawyers, and create a favorable legal environment for Shenzhen's rule-of-law construction. He hoped that all sectors of society, especially friends from the news media, would continue to encourage and support, and that lawyers and journalists would become lasting friends, helping each other and progressing together.
During the interaction, the media expressed their gratitude to the Shenzhen Lawyers Association and their interest in the transition to the tenth-term association. They raised questions on topics of interest, including the development of legal services under the “Belt and Road” Initiative, the establishment of the Lawyers Academy, seminars on legal issues in the Greater Bay Area, and innovative legal products and services that could be offered in the future. They also expressed a desire to strengthen cooperation and exchanges with the Shenzhen Lawyers Association and Shenzhen lawyers, and to facilitate communication with members of the professional committees.
President Lin Changzhi thanked the media friends for their recognition of the Shenzhen Lawyers Association, stating that neither lawyers nor journalists represent public power, and that they share common characteristics in upholding social fairness and justice and checking public power. He elaborated on why this leadership transition has attracted widespread social attention: it reflects society's concern for the legal profession and the lawyer industry, its attention to the vibrant land of Shenzhen, its yearning for the rule of law and civilization, and its observation of political civilization. He introduced that the Tenth Shenzhen Lawyers Association, within 107 days of taking office, has honored its commitments by publishing the monthly work updates of the presidential team, the council team, all specialized and professional committees, district lawyers' working committees, and the secretariat, accepting supervision from representatives, and being accountable to them. It has adopted project-based management and formulated the work plan for the current term and the 2017 work schedule. In response to questions of media concern, he said that riding the favorable momentum of judicial system reform, the Shenzhen Municipal Justice Bureau has placed high expectations on the Shenzhen Lawyers Association, and the current association will take proactive action, focusing on the following areas: First, leveraging the "Belt and Road" national initiative to expand the legal services industry and cultivate foreign-related legal talent, conducting research on the legal rules and national cultures of the 65 countries along the "Belt and Road," establishing a medium- and long-term foreign-related talent training program, and providing good services for Shenzhen lawyers to "go global." Second, promoting informatization construction so as to integrate with "smart courts," achieve interconnectivity with public security, procuratorial, and judicial organs, and improve judicial efficiency and case-handling standards. Third, advancing the building of a legal professional community, safeguarding lawyers' practice rights, and promoting judicial justice. In addition, the Tenth Shenzhen Lawyers Association will carry out practical work in promoting full coverage of criminal defense, handling lawyer discipline and lawyers' rights protection, and giving play to lawyers' role in participating in and deliberating on state affairs. He expressed the hope that in the next three years, the Shenzhen Lawyers Association and the media will work closely together and cooperate with each other to jointly promote the progress of social civilization.
Vice President Zhang Cheng answered questions of media concern regarding the development and planning of the Lawyers Academy. Vice President Cai Hua expressed the hope that the media would highlight the constraints in the practicing environment for lawyers and speak up for Shenzhen lawyers. Vice President Yang Xiao, serving as the press spokesperson of the Shenzhen Lawyers Association, introduced the press spokesperson system to the media. Vice President Yin Chenggang reported on the work plans of the committees under his supervision and expressed the hope to strengthen cooperation with the media. Directors Li Junqiang and Gao Wenjie successively presented the Shenzhen Lawyers Association’s ideas on promoting the research and development of legal service products and addressing legal issues in the development of the Greater Bay Area.
This press conference further strengthened and deepened communication and cooperation between the Shenzhen Lawyers Association and major mainstream media, better promoting and publicizing the excellent performance and professional image of the Shenzhen legal profession.
