[Shenzhen Lawyers Association] The Municipal Lawyers Association Visits Shenzhen Arbitration Commission for Discussion and Exchange
On the morning of August 25, a delegation led by Lin Changchi, President of the Shenzhen Lawyers Association, including Vice Presidents Zhang Cheng, Yin Chenggang, Zeng Mai, and Wang Tengfeng, Secretary-General Wang Hong, and Director of the Business Department Zeng Lili, visited the Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration. They were received by Song Weisheng, Director of the Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration, Deputy Directors Dong Lianhe, Li Qiuliang, Director of the Secretariat, Wang Luhai, Director of the Case Hearing Division, Hu Dawei, President of the Financial Arbitration Court, Zou Chuping, President of the Medical Dispute Arbitration Court, and Chen Qiaomei, Deputy Director of the Development Division, among others, who held a discussion with them.
Director Song Weisheng, on behalf of the Arbitration Commission, welcomed the visit of the working team of the 10th Shenzhen Lawyers Association and introduced the background of the Commission’s establishment and its current development. At present, the Commission is one of the top five arbitration institutions in China, with lawyer-arbitrators accounting for approximately 31% of its personnel, forming a highly qualified talent pool. Director Song Weisheng stated: First, the Commission will give priority to admitting lawyers into its panel of arbitrators; Second, the Commission will give priority to providing arbitration services to lawyers.
President Lin Changzhi briefly introduced the main organizational structure and basic situation of the Shenzhen Lawyers Association. Currently, the number of practicing lawyers in Shenzhen has reached 10,937, and the number of law firms has reached 716. However, there is still a considerable gap in business scale compared with Beijing and Shanghai, especially in the non-litigation field and foreign-related legal services. This cooperation with the Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration is an important measure to enhance the professional capabilities and core competitiveness of Shenzhen lawyers.
During the symposium, both sides discussed arbitration error correction mechanisms, arbitration enforcement effectiveness, and management of external arbitration institutions, and reached a consensus on how to further deepen cooperation and seek mutual benefits, such as promoting lawyers' awareness and support for arbitration methods, strengthening communication between lawyer-arbitrators and the Arbitration Commission within the Bar Association, and conducting cooperation in training and business exchanges.
After the meeting, both sides stated that they would implement the cooperation plan as soon as possible, refine the cooperation details, and establish a complete and long-term exchange and cooperation mechanism.
