[Shenzhen Lawyers Association] President of the Lawyers Association Talks About the Association — The Municipal Lawyers Association Holds a Symposium for Former Presidents
On the afternoon of October 23, 2018, the Shenzhen Lawyers Association held a symposium for former presidents. Chen Ye, the first and second president of the Shenzhen Lawyers Association; Huang Minggen, the third president; Xu Jian, the fourth president; Zhang Yong, the eighth president; and Gao Shu, the ninth president, attended the event. Jiang Xilin, Director of the Shenzhen Municipal Justice Bureau; Lin Changchi, the current president of the Shenzhen Lawyers Association; Vice Presidents Zeng Mai and Wang Tengfeng; Secretary-General Li Tongbao; and Council Member Gao Liming were present at the symposium.
A blueprint drawn to the end, carried forward term after term. President Lin Changzhi briefed the former presidents on the key initiatives of the current term. First, the successful hosting of the 10th China Lawyers Forum. Second, convening the Lawyers' Congress twice and amending the Association's Articles of Association twice, with provisions on Party building in the industry incorporated into the Articles. Third, establishing the Shenzhen Lawyers College and the Shenzhen Lawyers Party School. With strong support from the Municipal Justice Bureau, the CPC Nanshan District Committee and Nanshan District Government, and the Nanshan District Justice Bureau, the Shenzhen Lawyers College and the Shenzhen Lawyers Party School have been established in Nanshan and are striving to be officially inaugurated and operational within the year. Fourth, establishing a joint development platform for small and medium-sized law firms to support their growth. Fifth, launching the Shenzhen Foreign-related Leading Talent (Reserve Talent) Training Program to cultivate a cohort of foreign-related legal professionals that match Shenzhen's distinctive characteristics. Sixth, advancing the resolution of practice issues such as difficulties in meeting with clients through the joint conference on the work of public security, procuratorial, judicial, and security organs, and lawyers. Seventh, continuing to advance informatization, with support from the Municipal Justice Bureau to build an information platform. Eighth, seeking support from the CPC Shenzhen Municipal Committee and the Municipal Government to facilitate the formulation of a systematic set of support policies for the legal profession, including fiscal and tax policies. Ninth, promoting reform of the Secretariat, transforming it into an executive body, think tank, engine, lubricant, and publicity team to better serve all lawyer members across the city. Tenth, organizing a commemorative gala for the 30th anniversary of the Shenzhen Lawyers Association, reviewing and summarizing the thirty-year development of the Association and the legal profession.
The former presidents fully affirmed the work achievements of this term since its establishment, hoping that this term will continue to innovate in promoting the construction of a legal professional community, advancing the introduction of lawyer support policies, professional training of legal talents, and industry self-discipline management, to rebuild the Shenzhen lawyer brand and promote steady industry development.
Director Jiang Xilin stated that this year marks the 30th anniversary of the Municipal Lawyers Association. Over the past 30 years, the Shenzhen legal profession has grown and expanded with the spring breeze of reform and opening up, with business volumes rising year after year, making outstanding contributions to the stable development of the economy and society. The achievements of the Shenzhen legal profession today are the accumulation of successive association leaderships, inseparable from the hard work of former presidents. The Bureau of Justice, as a strong backing and support department for the legal profession, will continue to provide support for industry development, helping Shenzhen lawyers achieve new breakthroughs and jointly work to strengthen, optimize, and expand the Shenzhen legal profession.
