[Shenzhen Lawyers Association] Lawyers and journalists are both guardians. The 10th Shenzhen Lawyers Association held a press conference.
On the afternoon of August 4, 2017, the Shenzhen Lawyers Association press conference was successfully held.
To further strengthen and deepen communication and cooperation with major mainstream media, gather media opinions and suggestions on the association's publicity work, maintain good communication with news media, better promote and disseminate the work experience of the Shenzhen legal profession, and enhance the pragmatic and professional social image of Shenzhen lawyers, the association's Publicity Committee organized this meeting.
Lin Changchi, President of the Shenzhen Lawyers Association, led Vice President Wang Tengfeng, along with other Vice Presidents Zhang Cheng, Cai Hua, Yang Xiao, and Yin Chenggang, to attend the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Chen Wei, Director of the Publicity Committee. Senior journalists and directors from Shenzhen TV, Shenzhen Special Zone Daily, Shenzhen Evening News, Southern Metropolis Daily, Legal Daily, Yangcheng Evening News, and Guangdong News Channel participated in the meeting.
Vice President Wang Tengfeng introduced the formation of the new association's work team, including the composition of the new leadership team and the supervisory board, an overview of this election, and the composition of various functional bodies within the association (including the composition of various committees). Vice President Wang Tengfeng's humorous and witty remarks energized the entire venue.
President Lin Changchi provided a comprehensive overview of the current work of the Bar Association and its work plan for this term. He reviewed the promises made during his election campaign, stating that he would work full-time for the Bar Association, and highlighted three major goals for this year and the next, including talent cultivation for the Belt and Road Initiative, information technology development, and the construction of a legal professional community. He also encouraged lawyers to actively participate in political and policy discussions, and borrowed the phrase "rich mine" used by You Chunliang, a station chief of the Legal Daily, to describe the Bar Association, characterizing three major events—the 30th anniversary celebration of the Municipal Bar Association in 2018, information technology development, and the joint meeting on the legal professional community—as the "three rich mines."
Subsequently, five vice presidents, Zhang Cheng, Yang Xiao, Cai Hua, Yin Chenggang, and Wang Tengfeng, elaborated and responded to questions from media reporters on topics of high interest, including the planning of the Lawyers Academy, the Bar Association's spokesperson system, hot criminal issues, the social responsibility of Shenzhen lawyers, two major reports on the development of Shenzhen lawyers, and difficulties in legal practice. Two council members, Li Junqiang and Gao Wenjie, also introduced the Shenzhen Lawyers Legal Service Product Innovation Competition and legal issues related to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
The two sides discussed how to establish a good communication and interaction mechanism for deeper and closer cooperation. Journalists generally believed that more coverage should be given to the touching stories of lawyers, and that in news work, they often need timely legal expertise from the Municipal Bar Association, describing the relationship between lawyers and journalists as "like family," reflecting their close bond.
In his concluding remarks, President Lin mentioned that journalists are guardians of social justice, while lawyers are guardians of a rule-of-law society, sharing a common cause, which resonated strongly with the attendees.
The meeting ended with rounds of warm applause, and everyone took a group photo. We believe that in the future, communication and exchange between the Bar Association and the news media will become even closer.
