Shenzhen Lawyers Association: Shouldering Responsibilities and Moving Forward: The Strategy Committee Holds Its Second Plenary Meeting of 2018
On December 16, the Industry Development Strategy Committee of the Shenzhen Lawyers Association (hereinafter referred to as the “Strategy Committee”) convened the summary meeting for the “Shenzhen Lawyers Industry Social Responsibility Report” and its second plenary meeting of 2018. Attendees included Lin Changchi, President of the Shenzhen Lawyers Association; Wang Tengfeng, Vice President; Lawyer Lu Shu, representative of the Supervisory Board; Li Tongbao, Secretary-General; Chen Xufei, Director of the Strategy Committee; Deputy Directors Fan Yongqiang, Zhu Rui, and Gu Siyuan; and all committee members.
The team of the Director of the Strategic Committee provided a comprehensive summary of the key work in 2018 regarding the compilation of the Shenzhen Lawyers Industry Social Responsibility Report (hereinafter referred to as the “Social Responsibility Report”), and outlined the work plan and arrangements for 2019.
The compilation of the social responsibility report involved extensive scope, a large volume of information, and a high level of attention. The editorial committee conducted 5 rounds of research and 12 drafting meetings for repeated study and careful review. From the report framework to the specific content, it underwent more than a dozen revisions. It was condensed from the initial 290 pages and 170,000 words to 118 pages and nearly 70,000 words, ultimately completing the responsibility report. The social responsibility report is divided into six chapters, introducing the industry development of Shenzhen lawyers and their efforts and achievements in serving the overall political agenda, actively participating in political affairs, promoting the rule of law, optimizing the business environment, supporting economic development, participating in social development, serving a harmonious society, enhancing value expression, and promoting organizational development. It focuses on typical examples of Shenzhen lawyers fulfilling their social responsibilities over the past five years, thereby expressing the role of Shenzhen lawyers’ assumption of social responsibility in promoting the construction of a law-based government and a law-based society in Shenzhen. The compilation of the 2018 social responsibility report was successfully completed. In 2019, the Strategic Committee will carry out the compilation of the Shenzhen lawyer industry development report and the Shenzhen lawyer industry talent development research report.
President Lin Changzhi fully affirmed the work achievements of the Strategic Committee in 2018. He pointed out that the social responsibility report is rich in content and reflects the Strategic Committee’s strong sense of responsibility and solid professional expertise. The compilation and publication of this report served as a generous gift for the 30th anniversary celebration of the Shenzhen Lawyers Association. The work of the Lawyers Association is passed down continuously from one term to the next. He expressed his hope that everyone would fully grasp the development strategy of the legal profession, be willing to take on responsibilities, have the courage to tackle difficulties, and do a good job in the work of the current term, contributing to the development and progress of the legal profession.
Vice President Wang Tengfeng expressed his gratitude for the Strategy Committee's diligent efforts in 2018 and noted that the Social Responsibility Report reflects the Strategy Committee's rigorous and solid work ethic in both its formatting and content. He hopes that in 2019, the Strategy Committee will maintain this momentum and enthusiasm in compiling the two reports on industry development and talent development.
Finally, lawyer Lu Shu delivered supervisory opinions on behalf of the Board of Supervisors.
