Do not forget the essence of a lawyer, and look at the current situation.
[2] Last week, a lecture hosted by lawyer Wang Tengfeng received an enthusiastic response. To selflessly share his years of professional experience with more colleagues and to help young lawyers gain a deeper understanding of the current state of the legal profession, Lawyer Wang held another lecture today in the multifunctional hall of Guangdong Zhiming Law Firm. The theme of the lecture was "The Essence of Lawyers and Their Current State." The venue was packed, with everyone listening intently, fully focused, afraid to miss a single word.
[3] Continuing from the previous lecture, Lawyer Wang mentioned that the essence of a lawyer is to use legal skills to help clients litigate (in lawsuits or arbitration), protect the legitimate rights and interests of the principal, achieve social fairness and justice, and promote the progress of the rule of law. Since lawyers bear heavy responsibilities, they should work diligently to master high-level legal service skills, using their excellent litigation abilities to serve society, thereby earning compensation and respect. However, contrary to expectations, under the current economic circumstances, many lawyers have been corrupted by greed, abandoning hard work and only thinking of using connections, relationships, and resources to cut corners. But countless examples tell us that this path is unsustainable and even illegal. Once exposed, the consequences range from losing the lawyer's license to destroying family happiness—truly a case of the gain not being worth the loss. Lawyer Wang hopes everyone will take this as a warning, correct their mindset, and continue on the path of dedication and hard work.
[4] Speaking of integrity and justice, he cited a real example. This was a classic case he handled shortly after entering the profession—China's first successful "citizen suing the government" administrative dispute case. At that time, "citizen suing the government" was virtually unheard of. This case placed on Lawyer Wang's shoulders not only the legitimate rights and interests of the client but also an important step in China's rule-of-law construction. From feeling his way cautiously when taking the case, to thorough preparation for the litigation, to meeting expectations with the victory, he vividly narrated the twists and turns of the case, as if the righteous lawyer appeared vividly before everyone's eyes, inspiring admiration.
[5] No matter the era, a just and upright lawyer should enhance their own abilities, be dedicated and hardworking, provide quality service to society, earn the respect of peers, and gain societal esteem—this is the true and righteous path!
