Lawyer Wang Tengfeng's topic was "The Relationship Between Lawyers and Their Clients," with a classic case analysis titled "Xie's Extramarital Affair Causes Trouble, Lawyer Helps but Client Bites the Hand That Feeds." [3] Regarding the relationship between lawyers and clients, Lawyer Wang summed it up succinctly: "It can be either 'family' or 'enemy.'" He outlined three scenarios: first, the lawyer is diligent and responsible, and the client respects and thanks them; second, the lawyer is still diligent, but the client bites the hand that feeds or even turns against them; third, the lawyer is unethical, unskilled, or even cheats their own client. Since the third type involves lawyers of poor character, they fall outside the scope of upright lawyers, so Lawyer Wang mainly warned against preventing the second scenario.
 
[4] At this point, Lawyer Wang shared a classic case from his own experience. Xie, a public official, had an extramarital affair that led to his mistress becoming pregnant. She threatened to ruin his career unless he paid 9 million yuan in child support. Panicked, Xie offered to pay 900,000 yuan in legal fees just to resolve the matter smoothly. With years of experience, Lawyer Wang settled the issue in less than half a month. However, Xie then felt the legal fees were too high and tried to renege. Using his self-created "Artistic Litigation Method," Lawyer Wang wrote a letter to Xie, blending emotion, reason, and law. Upon reading it, Xie realized that persisting in default would only lead to greater losses, so he backed down.

 
 

[5] In his concluding remarks, Lawyer Wang emphasized that as upright lawyers, we must be especially vigilant during practice against clients of poor character. They may kneel and weep when seeking help, but after receiving assistance, they lose all conscience and turn hostile. While we lawfully and righteously advocate for our clients, we must always carefully analyze the situation, stay vigilant, and avoid doing good that harms ourselves.
