Today, the Yunnan Provincial Higher People's Court publicly pronounced its judgment in accordance with the law on the retrial of the case concerning Sun Xiaoguo's crimes of rape, compulsory indecent assault on women, intentional injury, and picking quarrels and provoking trouble committed in 1997. The judgment held that the original retrial judgment made by the said court in September 2007 and the second-instance judgment made in March 1999 were indeed erroneous in the conviction and sentencing of Sun Xiaoguo, and were therefore revoked in accordance with the law; the first-instance judgment rendered by the Kunming Intermediate People's Court in February 1998 sentencing Sun Xiaoguo to death was upheld, and, combined with the final judgment sentencing him to twenty-five years of fixed-term imprisonment for the crimes of organizing and leading a gangland-style organization and other crimes committed after his release from prison, it was decided that Sun Xiaoguo shall be executed, deprived of political rights for life, and have all his personal property confiscated.

Delivery rider suspected of killing with a knife over a negative review

On December 22, the Hongshan District Public Security Sub-bureau of Wuhan issued a Weibo notice stating that at around 2 PM on December 22, Hongshan police received a report from the public: someone was attacking people with a knife at Nanhu Baigang City. Police officers from the local station and police service station quickly arrived at the scene and, together with security forces, subdued the suspect. Upon examination by 120 emergency personnel, the injured man was found to have no vital signs. Investigation revealed that the victim was an employee of Baigang City, and the suspect was a food delivery rider surnamed Chen (male, 32 years old). The two had an argument, and Chen stabbed Zhou with a knife. The case is under further investigation.

Earlier, an eyewitness claimed that a staff member at the store gave the delivery rider a negative review, leading to a conflict when the rider arrived at the store.

On December 23, regarding the incident in which a food delivery worker in Wuhan fatally stabbed someone with a knife inside a store,Meituan responded to reporters, “The investigation confirmed that the case was not triggered by a negative review, but by a verbal altercation with store staff over a pickup issue.”and will cooperate with police investigations, sparing no effort to improve.

A lawyer from Guangdong Zhiming Law Firm stated,During work hours, if an employee causes harm to others while performing work tasks, the employer bears tort liability.

If an employee causes injury or death due to personal matters, the individual bears legal responsibility, and the employer is not liable; if the employer has management faults, it shall bear certain compensation liability; if the employer has no fault, it bears no liability.
