Along a stretch of over 100 meters, 41 tree stumps were left behind. Chen Pengliang, the Party branch secretary of Subutun Village, who was passing by, immediately stepped in to stop them and called the police. Investigation revealed that the two men cutting the trees were father and son, hired by another man, and they were illegally logging trees for money. Of the more than 40 golden willows, over 20 had been cut earlier and already sold, while those cut on the afternoon of the 8th had not yet been sold when they were discovered and seized. The police took the three men back to the police station, and the case is currently under further investigation."

According to Article 72 of the Provisions of the Supreme People's Court and the Ministry of Public Security on the Standards for Filing and Prosecuting Criminal Cases Under the Jurisdiction of Public Security Organs (I), where a person commits illegal logging of forests or other trees and is suspected of any of the following circumstances, a case shall be filed for prosecution: (1) illegal logging of two to five cubic meters or more.
