Some time ago, a piece of information claiming "a BMW blocked a Land Rover's parking spot" spread on online platforms, sparking heated discussion among netizens and causing significant social impact. After investigation by public security authorities, the information was found to be false, fabricated and posted by a person surnamed Cui (online alias "Dun Jie") to attract attention. In accordance with relevant provisions of the Public Security Administration Punishments Law of the People's Republic of China, public security authorities imposed administrative detention on Cui.

Case review
According to Dun Jie, the incident began when the BMW owner from the same residential complex occupied her parking spot without reason. After calling for three days without reaching the BMW owner, the latter even blocked her number. So starting February 3 this year, Dun Jie, in a fit of anger, blocked the BMW with her Land Rover.

On July 7, Dun Jie, the Land Rover owner, posted online claiming her parking spot had been occupied by the BMW for 158 days. She stated that the BMW owner had called a forklift to move her car away. Dun Jie then placed a vase worth 1.45 million yuan inside her car and attached a notice: "Valuables inside the car; any unauthorized moving will be at your own risk." Later, she posted again saying the BMW owner had sued for commuting expenses and reputation restoration, and that the first trial had ended, awaiting the verdict.

Many netizens questioned whether the Land Rover owner was staging the whole thing. Since the incident began, the Land Rover owner had been posting videos on social media, and the alleged first-instance verdict had never been seen. The Land Rover owner replied in comments that the trial was live-streamed and watched by 280,000 people.

However, after investigation by public security authorities, the information was found to be false, fabricated and posted by Cui to attract attention.

[1] The author's perspective
[3] In recent years, some platforms have strengthened account management and collaborated with regulatory authorities to address problematic videos and accounts. This should be affirmed, but it is undeniable that such issues still exist. The case of "Dun Jie" gaining popularity for months is a typical example.

[4] Short video platforms are now extremely popular, and it is not hard to find that such videos are common on these platforms. "Dun Jie" battling a BMW inherently stems from the appeal of "punishing evil." Even so, fake tricks inevitably reveal flaws. However, it is undeniable that the popularity of short video platforms relies heavily on these attention-grabbing skit videos, so the question is not whether they can be seen through, but whether people want to see through them.

[5] The internet is not a lawless place, and it is hoped that netizens will take this as a warning. For illegal and criminal acts such as fabricating and spreading rumors, disrupting social order, and affecting social stability, public security organs will crack down according to the law!
