Case review
[4] At 1 a.m. on August 2, Xie Minghao Studio posted a real-name report online accusing JJ Lin and Will Pan of drug use. Xie Minghao Studio also tagged the official accounts of Beijing Chaoyang Police and Anti-Drug Online.
 
[5] In the screenshot of Xie Minghao Studio's post, it emphasized: "We request the police to conduct drug tests on JJ Lin and Will Pan. If there is no issue, we are willing to bear legal responsibility!"
 
[6] Another Weibo post stated: "We report that singers JJ Lin and Will Pan have engaged in criminal acts such as drug use and rape of minors with Kris Wu. We request the police to file a case and investigate this!" and added below: "There is no escape."
 
On the evening of August 2, JJ Lin's studio issued a lawyer's letter, listing a series of netizens' names suspected of defamation and insult. Additionally, it separately mentioned Xie Minghao's studio, claiming that Xie Minghao ignored the warning after JJ Lin's studio's first statement and continued to publish defamatory content about JJ Lin, causing serious damage to JJ Lin's reputation.
 
Subsequently, Will Pan issued a statement through his lawyer, stating that Xie Minghao and other users were spreading rumors and publishing false content, damaging Will Pan's reputation, and demanding that they stop the infringement. Will Pan considered the content published by Xie Minghao as malicious defamation, and would protect his rights through legal means, pursuing accountability to the end without leniency.

(1) Illegally possessing less than 200 grams of opium, less than 10 grams of heroin or methamphetamine, or other small amounts of drugs;
(2) Providing drugs to others;

After rounds of revelations and rebuttals, the curiosity of onlookers has only grown. At present, there are only two possibilities. First, if Xie Minghao's revelations are true and Lin Junjie and Pan Weibo indeed used drugs, then their drug use alone violates Article 72 of the Public Security Administration Punishments Law. Second, if Xie Minghao's revelations are false and Lin Junjie and Pan Weibo never used drugs, then Xie Minghao may be guilty of defamation under Article 246 of the Criminal Law. Clearly, with the situation escalating to such a degree, one side will inevitably pay a heavy price.
 
If it is the first scenario, Xie Minghao seized the opportunity of the Kris Wu incident. While the public laments "the entertainment circle is truly chaotic," he further exposed the illegal acts of two major idols, using the wave of online public opinion to push these disgraced stars into the abyss while simultaneously boosting his own fame. This could be described as "both ridding the public of harm and fulfilling his own goals." Of course, referencing past drug users like Ko Chen-tung and Zhang Mo, Lin Junjie and Pan Weibo's careers would also end here.
 
If it is the second scenario, then Xie Minghao, a "third-tier minor actor," is truly desperate for attention, regardless of the consequences. After all, the influence of Lin Junjie and Pan Weibo is well-known. To stir up trouble in this domain only to spread rumors would not only anger their fans but also the law. Words can be damaging. Without solid evidence, the images of Lin Junjie and Pan Weibo have already suffered greatly. Consequences like fans leaving, collaborations pausing, and contracts terminating have a huge impact on artists. Even if they are later proven innocent, the losses during this period cannot be underestimated. If they later provide drug test reports proving they never used drugs, Xie Minghao's "assertive claims" during this time would likely backfire on him. Not only would his path to stardom fail, but he would also face charges of defamation, leading to a premature end to his career—a truly losing proposition.
 
Regardless of which scenario occurs, it will be a devastating blow to any artist. As celebrities, they are watched by countless eyes both inside and outside the industry. They should shine like stars, set good examples, and illuminate others with their brilliance. Unfortunately, today's stars do not shoulder their responsibilities or lead by example, and the entertainment industry has become a source of gossip and amusement for the public. But it should not be this way.
