On September 25, a netizen with the username "I don't like eating meat" posted online claiming that on September 23, while visiting Universal Studios with friends, a man suspected of being a Beijing Universal Studios employee lifted her skirt to take upskirt photos. Her companions discovered the act and reported it to the police.

 

On September 26, Beijing Universal Studios issued a statement saying: We are shocked and angered by the recent incident of a visitor being secretly photographed while touring the park. We extend our deepest apologies to the visitor for their experience and will do our utmost to provide follow-up assistance. Protecting the safety and privacy of our guests is always our top priority, and such behavior is intolerable at any time. It not only violates relevant laws and regulations but also seriously breaches our company's culture and values. We have immediately terminated the employment contract with the involved employee and dismissed them. We firmly support the police's handling decisions and have established a special task force to actively cooperate with the relevant investigation.

 

On the afternoon of September 26, the official Weibo account of the Tongzhou Branch of the Beijing Public Security Bureau issued a notice: At around 6:00 PM on September 23, 2021, a woman reported that while visiting Beijing Universal Resort, she was secretly photographed in private areas. After receiving the report, police from the Wenjing Police Station of the Tongzhou Public Security Bureau quickly arrived and apprehended the offender, Xiao Moumou (male, 25). The individual confessed to the illegal act. On the same day, Xiao was legally sentenced to ten days of administrative detention by the Tongzhou Public Security Bureau.

(6) Since the opening of Universal Studios in September this year, tickets have been sold out on various ticket-buying platforms, and tourists from all over have flocked to experience this grand theme park. Originally a place meant to bring joy and laughter to customers, it has frequently been hit by negative news within just one month, with a series of incidents such as theft and voyeurism due to inadequate supervision. Particularly, this voyeurism incident was committed by a Universal Studios employee, which is extremely disappointing.
 
For a commercial amusement park, visitor safety should always be the top priority, and any such infringement is intolerable at any time. It not only leaves an indelible negative impact on the park but also violates relevant laws and regulations. Looking back at this case, although Universal Studios eventually cooperated actively and dismissed the employee, according to the information disclosed by the involved party, it appears that Universal Studios did not immediately cooperate at first, only making a statement after the police investigated the surveillance footage. This shows that the case not only reflects Universal Studios' inadequate supervision but also a relatively passive attitude in handling the issue afterward. How much trust can an amusement park that does not prioritize visitor safety and experience earn?
 
In my opinion, while it is important to strive to develop new entertainment facilities, what matters more is visitor reputation. An amusement park is supposed to be a dream factory that brings joy to customers, and it must never become a breeding ground for crime.
