[1] The author's perspective
From a legal perspective, soliciting prostitution is illegal but not criminal, yet this does not mean that violating the Public Security Administration Punishments Law can be overlooked. Given the current situation, Li Yundi's career in the entertainment industry is almost over. Besides facing administrative penalties, this incident may also trigger a series of consequences for breach of contract. Li Yundi's current endorsements cover a wide range of industries, including automobiles, mobile phones, pianos, skincare products, and even online shopping platforms. However, due to the damage to his public image and industry backlash, Li Yundi can no longer fulfill his endorsement contracts as agreed. Once he defaults, he will inevitably face substantial compensation.
In the past two years, the entertainment industry has become a key target of legal regulation. Public figures should pay more attention to self-discipline, abide by the law, and set a good example for ordinary people in order to become shining stars. On the contrary, if they are elevated to high positions without understanding their responsibilities, or even harbor a fluke mentality to disrupt social order and challenge the bottom line of the law, they will surely ruin their own future, which echoes the old saying: "One who brings trouble to oneself will find no escape."
