"Yu Wei" is not omnipotent; there are no privileges before the law!

[2] On November 6, Nanchang local media, in collaboration with Nanchang traffic police, conducted a live broadcast of a "night drunk driving check." During the event, a woman suspected of drunk driving was caught by the police but refused to cooperate with the breathalyzer test for various reasons. The next day, the Nanchang Public Security Bureau Traffic Management Bureau reported that the woman was suspected of the crime of dangerous driving. The public security authorities have filed a criminal case in accordance with the law, and the case is currently under further investigation.
[3] Notably, throughout the incident, the woman did not cooperate. The entire alcohol test process took 17 minutes to complete, and she blew into the device 66 times, succeeding only on the last attempt. During this time, she repeatedly told the police, "Call yu wei (phonetic) over," and attempted to make phone calls.
[4] Late on November 9, Nanchang police released a statement on the widely watched "luxury car driver Sun Mou drunk driving" case, reporting that the suspect Sun Mou had been transferred to the prosecution for review and indictment on suspicion of the crime of dangerous driving.
[5] Regarding who "yuwei" is, the police report stated that an investigation found six police officers in the city's public security system whose names are homophones of "yu wei." None of them knew Sun Mou, and there was no connection. According to the suspect Sun Mou's confession after being brought to justice, she actually did not know anyone named "yu wei" (phonetic), but she knew that the director of the Donghu District Public Security Sub-bureau was Yu Wei (Sun Mou was unaware that Yu Wei had been transferred to the Qingshanhu District Public Security Sub-bureau). She said "Call yu wei over" at the scene because she was drunk, feared her vehicle would be impounded, and hoped to avoid or reduce punishment on the spot.

[6] Article 133: Crime of Dangerous Driving
Driving a motor vehicle on the road under any of the following circumstances shall be punishable by criminal detention and a fine:
(1) Engaging in drag racing under恶劣 circumstances;
(2) Driving a motor vehicle while intoxicated;
(3) Operating a school bus or passenger transport service, severely exceeding the rated passenger capacity, or severely exceeding the prescribed speed limit;
(4) Transporting hazardous chemicals in violation of hazardous chemical safety management regulations, endangering public safety.

In this case, Sun committed the following two errors:
First, driving after drinking alcohol. This in itself violates the law and is a criminal act that seriously endangers the lives of oneself and others. Slogans like "Don't drive after drinking, don't drink if you drive" have been promoted for years, yet some people still take chances, whether thinking a single sip won't be detected or believing they can avoid punishment through other means after heavy drinking. This is not only irresponsible for their own lives but also disregards public safety. Once an accident occurs, it only brings tears to loved ones and shatters several families. Now, Sun has been transferred to the prosecutor for review and prosecution on charges of dangerous driving, which is a well-deserved consequence.
Second, still trying to use privilege to avoid punishment after making a mistake. After all these years, some people still hope to rely on privilege to back them up, showing that certain outdated ideas still linger in people's minds. Another detail is that throughout the live broadcast, the traffic police were not swayed and firmly replied to the woman, "It's useless no matter who you call," "Mentioning anyone's name is just harming them," and "If you truly consider your friend a friend, just cooperate." He could say this not only because of the traffic police's sense of justice but also because it reflects the public sentiment of the entire society.
This case should serve as a wake-up call for every Sun. In 2021, some people still hope to "fix everything" by "calling someone." Such a mindset and behavior are unacceptable. In today's rule-of-law society, we should all be clear: everyone is equal before the law.
