As the New Year approaches, fireworks and firecrackers have once again been brought back into people's sight. Furthermore, with many regions announcing policies to allow the setting off of fireworks and firecrackers this year, people who haven't set off fireworks for a long time are especially delighted. However, while setting off fireworks is momentarily spectacular, it also carries many safety hazards behind it, so the production and sale of fireworks is not something that just anyone can do.

 
 

 
Case review
Recently, the Renzhao Police Station of the Pingdu Public Security Bureau handled the first case of illegal sale of fireworks and firecrackers this year.

 
 

On the afternoon of January 1, the Renzhao Police Station received a report from the public that someone was illegally selling fireworks and firecrackers on Da Street in Xiaocheng West Village within the jurisdiction. After receiving the report, the police quickly rushed to the scene and arrested Jiang, the suspect selling fireworks and firecrackers, confiscating more than 20,000 firecrackers and over 3,000 firework salute items on the spot. Upon investigation, Jiang was found to be illegally selling fireworks and firecrackers without any permits, suspected of illegally trading and transporting hazardous materials. According to the relevant provisions of the Law of the People's Republic of China on Penalties for Administration of Public Security, the public security authorities lawfully imposed an administrative detention of 5 days on Jiang.
 
The police remind the general public that illegally making, selling, transporting, or storing fireworks and firecrackers seriously endangers public safety. Please actively report any violations you discover.

Article 30
Those who violate national regulations by manufacturing, buying, selling, storing, transporting, mailing, carrying, using, providing, or disposing of explosive, toxic, radioactive, corrosive substances or infectious disease pathogens and other dangerous substances shall be detained for not less than ten days but not more than fifteen days; for less serious cases, detention shall be for not less than five days but not more than ten days.

Those who illegally manufacture, sell, transport, mail, or store firearms, ammunition, or explosives shall be sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of more than three years but less than ten years; if the circumstances are serious, they shall be sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of more than ten years, life imprisonment, or death.

Fireworks and firecrackers are not only common festive and celebratory items, but also carry many people's fond memories. However, they are ultimately dangerous items, and whether it is their production, transportation, or storage, or the falling sparks and pollutants released after they are set off, these are issues we cannot ignore or take lightly. Therefore, to properly manage the safety of fireworks and firecrackers, it is necessary to rely on coordinated management from all sectors of society and the support and cooperation of the general public.
