You Xu (formerly known as You Moumei), who once denounced "Lang Weixian" as the "founder of the Lang Weixian IP" for burning bridges and poaching company employees, was reported by her former employer, Chongqing Tianquanxing Cultural Media Company (hereinafter referred to as Tianquanxing Company), for allegedly embezzling over 4 million yuan of company funds.

 
 

Case review
In July 2020, Tianquanxing Company reported You Moumei for embezzlement to the Yubei Branch of the Chongqing Public Security Bureau, but the police dismissed the case citing no criminal facts. After Tianquanxing Company supplemented relevant materials and reported again, the Yubei Public Security Branch filed a case in June 2021 to investigate You Moumei's suspected embezzlement.

 
 

It is reported that the case of You Moumei's suspected embezzlement has been transferred by the Yubei police to the Economic Investigation Corps of the Chongqing Public Security Bureau for handling. She has been arrested, and the case has not yet been transferred for prosecution.
 
Meanwhile, the Chongqing First Intermediate People's Court ruled in the first instance that the Douyin and Kuaishou "Lang Weixian" live streaming accounts controlled by You Moumei belong to Tianquanxing Media Company and ordered her to hand over the accounts and passwords. After You Moumei appealed, the Chongqing High People's Court recently rejected her appeal in the second instance and upheld the original judgment.

The cooperation between You Moumei and Tianquanxing Company was a successful trial, making them among the first to seize the opportunity. However, things turned from a promising start to today's falling-out, not only due to differences in business philosophy but also because of personal greed. In this case, Tianquanxing has consistently emphasized You Moumei's embezzlement of company finances and concealment of the true earnings from the live-streaming account, but this also reflects Tianquanxing's lax management; otherwise, You Moumei's illegal actions would have been discovered much earlier.

However, an influencer's popularity requires constant updates to maintain; over time, not only does their popularity suffer, but their economic interests also decline. This shows that once the cooperative relationship between an influencer and a company breaks down, both parties are likely to be affected. Therefore, at the start of cooperation, one should not only focus on future benefits but also pay attention to the current contract terms, as this contract is both a guarantee of interests and the foundation of cooperation.
