In November 2021, a female internet celebrity in Cangxi, Sichuan, was killed by her husband and her body was hidden in a freezer for two months, drawing widespread attention. After the incident, the husband, suspect Wang, was detained by police and reported to the procuratorate for arrest approval. In July 2022, the case was heard at the Guangyuan Intermediate People's Court, where the victim's relatives requested a heavier punishment for Wang and compensation of over 900,000 yuan. It is reported that the case was recently sentenced in the first instance, with Wang receiving a death sentence with a two-year reprieve.

 
 

Case review
A neighbor said that after killing his wife, Wang bought a second-hand freezer and hid the body inside. The freezer was placed in the wife's bedroom, and although Wang's mother returned home several times, she never entered the daughter-in-law's room, so she was unaware of the situation.

 
 

It is reported that the victim was a locally well-known female streamer with 150,000 followers on a short video platform and over one million cumulative likes. After the female internet celebrity disappeared, her family traveled from Yanting, Mianyang, to Cangxi County to search for her but failed, and later reported the case to the police.
 
After Wang was captured, police detained him and reported to the procuratorate for arrest approval. On July 6, 2022, nearly ten months after the incident, the case was heard at the Guangyuan Intermediate People's Court. The victim's family hired a lawyer to file a criminal附带 civil lawsuit, requesting a heavier punishment for Wang and a court order for him to compensate the victim's family over 900,000 yuan.
