Case review
Recently, the Litang County People's Court publicly served a judgment to Wu Moumou in the case of Ding Zhen Zhenzhu suing Wu Moumou over personality rights (portrait rights, name rights, reputation rights) dispute.

The court ruled that the defendant Wu Moumou must post a written apology at the top of their Weibo account, apologize to Ding Zhen Zhenzhu for the infringement caused by the published content, and compensate Ding Zhen Zhenzhu for economic losses, mental distress damages, and reasonable维权 expenses totaling over 61,000 yuan.

In 2020, the "sweet and wild boy" Ding Zhen became an internet sensation. He signed a contract to become an employee of Litang County Cultural, Tourism, Sports and Investment Development Co., Ltd., serving as a local tourism ambassador. As Ding Zhen rose to fame, a group of anti-fans became active on various social media platforms, fabricating so-called "dirt on Ding Zhen," especially regarding privacy topics, which were dug up by some netizens. Others launched personal attacks against Ding Zhen, maliciously photoshopping his images on social media, and posting sarcastic or even defamatory remarks.

[1] The author's perspective
Celebrity rights protection is now very common, but also highly necessary. It serves a positive guiding role, whether in maintaining their own image or in fostering a good environment for artistic creation and the rule of law. For celebrities, the ultimate goal of such lawsuits is not to obtain compensation, but to use legal means to send a message to infringing companies and fans, thereby protecting their image. On the other hand, driven by the "fan economy," many celebrities choose to sue infringers and anti-fans to avoid negative public opinion and retain their fan base.
