[Shenzhen Lawyers Association] Lawyers in our city participated in mediating a compensation dispute over a safety accident, earning praise
At the end of June this year, a fatal accident occurred at an amusement facility in a scenic spot in our city, resulting in six deaths. Subsequent aftermath work was carried out, and by mid-July, compensation issues for three of the victims had been resolved. The remaining three victims came from the same family, and their relatives were emotionally distressed, leaving compensation negotiations at a stalemate. On July 19, at the request of the district justice bureau, Zhiming Law Firm dispatched two experienced lawyers, Li Zhiyong and Zhang Hongliang, to join the government-organized working group to participate in mediating the dispute.
During the mediation, the two lawyers adhered to the principles of fairness and impartiality, adopted an approach combining reason and emotion, and leveraged their professional expertise and influence to carry out their work in the following aspects: First, they cooperated with the government working group throughout the process, maintained impartiality and neutrality, identified the focal points of the dispute between both parties, and promptly conducted thorough and meticulous ideological guidance; Second, they applied their legal expertise to carefully review the compensation calculation plan proposed by the party at fault, hoping that the compensation amount would be calculated in accordance with relevant legal provisions; Third, they earnestly addressed the family members’ inquiries, patiently explained legal knowledge to them, and informed them of the maximum compensation amount they could obtain within the scope permitted by law. After multiple rounds of negotiation, both parties finally reached an agreement.
In the mediation of this dispute, the professional legal opinions, rigorous and meticulous work style, and sincere and friendly attitude of our city's lawyers were highly praised by the district government work group, the district Judicial Bureau, and both parties involved.
