[Shenzhen Lawyers Association] The Municipal Lawyers Association held a special lecture on the Understanding and Application of the General Principles of Civil Law.

On September 17, 2017, the Shenzhen Lawyers Association, in collaboration with the Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration, held a special lecture on the General Provisions of the Civil Law at the Shenzhen Special Zone Daily. Professor Yao Hui, Director of the Civil and Commercial Law Teaching and Research Section at the Renmin University of China Law School, was invited as the keynote speaker. Wang Tengfeng, Vice President of the Shenzhen Lawyers Association, and Wang Suli, Vice President of the Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration, delivered speeches respectively. He Zhijun, Council Member of the Shenzhen Lawyers Association and Director of the Professional Training Committee, presided over the lecture. Nearly a thousand lawyers from across the city attended the event.
 

Vice President Wang Suli pointed out in her speech that this special lecture on the General Principles of Civil Law came at an opportune time, meeting the urgent expectations of the majority of lawyers. She expressed hope that Professor Yao Hui's authoritative interpretation would impart knowledge and resolve doubts for Shenzhen lawyers, allowing them to leave with a wealth of insights.

Vice President Wang Tengfeng noted in his speech that on the eve of the implementation of the General Principles of Civil Law, it was an honor to co-host this special lecture with the Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration. He also thanked Professor Yao Hui for personally coming to Shenzhen to provide an authoritative interpretation of the understanding and application of the General Principles of Civil Law for Shenzhen lawyers. He hoped that Shenzhen lawyers would cherish this learning opportunity, listen attentively, take notes, think carefully, and strive to enhance their professional competence and service to society.

Professor Yao Hui, drawing on his experience in drafting the Civil Code and serving as a judge at the Supreme People's Court, introduced the legislative background and structural framework of the General Provisions of the Civil Law. Combining the 1987 General Principles of the Civil Law with current hot topics in judicial practice, he provided an in-depth, article-by-article explanation of key contents including the basic provisions, natural persons, legal persons, unincorporated organizations, civil rights, civil juristic acts, civil liability, and limitation of action. Professor Yao's brilliant lecture greatly benefited the lawyers present.

This lecture strengthened Shenzhen lawyers' understanding and application of the upcoming General Principles of Civil Law, comprehensively enhancing their deep comprehension and study of its content.
