On the morning of January 28, 2018, the Economic Crime Defense Committee of the Provincial Lawyers Association held its 2017 annual work summary meeting in Guangzhou. Committee Director Nan Fang, Deputy Directors Chen Yongzhong, Zhang Jingzhong, Ouyang Yi, Secretary-General Wu Zhijian, and 18 other committee members attended the meeting. Provincial Lawyers Association Vice President Wang Bo attended, and Deputy Supervisor Wang Tengfeng was present as an observer. The meeting was chaired by Director Nan Fang.

At the meeting, Director Nan Fang provided a detailed and comprehensive summary of the Economic Crime Defense Committee's 2017 team building, completion of key tasks, innovative highlights, existing issues, and improvement measures. In 2017, in addition to actively completing planned tasks such as developing the new product "Criminal Complaint Services," hosting the "Economic Defense South Guangdong Tour · Lecture Series" and the "Intellectual Property Crime Case Forum," completing the annual observation report, and conducting the selection of ten typical cases, the committee also proactively carried out meaningful and valuable unplanned activities. These included conducting research on "New Products in Criminal Legal Services," hosting the "Criminal Complaint Lawyer Practice Salon," a special lecture on "Exclusion of Illegally Obtained Evidence," and a special meeting to study the spirit of the National Lawyers Association's "Criminal Defense and Lawyer System Reform" seminar. Additionally, committee members were repeatedly invited to provide specialized training for anti-drug police officers in the province's public security system and young lawyers in Shenzhen, all of which achieved positive social outcomes.

All attending committee members engaged in a lively discussion on how to effectively carry out the work of the Economic Crime Defense Special Committee in 2018, actively offering suggestions and advice. In particular, they proposed many constructive opinions and recommendations on how to increase revenue and reduce expenditure to carry out various tasks, how to integrate the "Economic Defense South Guangdong Tour • Circuit Forum" with full coverage of criminal defense for training, and how to effectively conduct research on "new products in criminal legal services." During the meeting, the committee also elected four outstanding members through a democratic voting process.

Vice President Wang Bo, in his concluding remarks, warmly congratulated the four outstanding members and highly praised the work of the Economic Crime Defense Special Committee in 2017. He stated that the committee not only performed well, organized effectively, and achieved outstanding results, delivering a brilliant and satisfactory report card, but also established a sound working mechanism, laying a solid foundation for future work. He expressed hope that the Economic Crime Defense Special Committee would develop a more mature work approach in 2018 and achieve even greater progress.

Finally, Deputy Supervisor Wang Tengfeng delivered supervisory opinions, stating that the meeting procedures were compliant, the content was rich, and the outcomes were positive. He noted that the Economic Crime Defense Special Committee's work in 2017 was well-organized, with active activities, fruitful results, and a warm team atmosphere.

In the new year, under the leadership of the Provincial Lawyers Association, the Economic Crime Defense Special Committee will continue to work hard, actively carry out various tasks, further expand its influence, and lead lawyers across the province to open new horizons in economic crime defense practice.
