The full story! Yunda responds to employee assault, woman beaten after complaining about deliveryman
[2] Recently, the incident of a Yunda Express courier assaulting a customer went viral. Ms. Wu, a resident of Shenzhen, had repeatedly complained to Yunda Express about the courier not delivering packages to her door.[3] During a phone call with Ms. Wu, the courier was rude and explicitly stated, "Even if I lose my job, I’ll still come after you."
[4] There were parcel lockers and drop-off points near Ms. Wu’s home, and she even told the courier he could leave packages in the lobby. However, the courier refused and kept leaving them elsewhere, forcing Ms. Wu to make unnecessary trips. Left with no choice, she filed complaints, but they proved ineffective. Instead, she received threatening phone calls from the courier.
[5] After being threatened, Ms. Wu called Yunda Express headquarters to report the situation. The company said it would handle the matter, but this apparently angered the courier. Hours later, he arrived at Ms. Wu’s home with her package, barged into her house, and repeatedly struck her head with it.After a hospital examination, Ms. Wu was found to have minor injuries.
After being assaulted, Ms. Wu chose to call the police. When the officers arrived, the courier Zeng still had an arrogant attitude. And even made reckless remarks: "If it weren't for the law, I could beat you to death."
Currently, the courier who assaulted her has been placed under administrative detention. The public relations manager of Yunda's Shenzhen branch stated that the courier must bear full responsibility for this incident, and the company will actively stay in touch with the injured party.
Yunda stated that the branch where the involved courier worked has already dismissed him, and Yunda is organizing training and corrective measures for that branch.
A lawyer from Guangdong Zhiming Law Firm stated,Causing minor injuries does not constitute a criminal offense; although no criminal liability is required, administrative liability and civil compensation must be borne.
Minor injuries can generally be mediated by the public security authorities; if a mediation agreement is reached, no penalty will be imposed; if mediation fails, a fine or administrative detention of up to 15 days may be imposed.
Compensation for damages from minor injuries typically includes medical expenses, lost wages, nursing fees, hospital meal subsidies, nutritional fees, etc.
