On February 23, a woman in Fuyang, Anhui Province, posted a video claiming she had been subjected to domestic violence by her ex-husband, which drew public attention. It was later verified to be a staged script, and her claim that she had called the police was a lie.

 
 

On the 25th, police released the complete surveillance footage of Tan's "domestic abuse" incident, which showed that she had rehearsed multiple times with her ex-husband, and the two were seen chatting and laughing after filming. Subsequently, Tan appeared on camera to apologize: "I asked my ex-husband to stage the scene to gain traffic. I deeply regret it, and I urge everyone not to follow my example."
 
Currently, Tan has been administratively detained for ten days for violating Article 25, Item 1 of the Public Security Administration Punishments Law, by spreading rumors and disrupting public order. Tan's account has been banned. The platform involved responded that it firmly cracks down on the release and dissemination of false information. The user's behavior seriously violated platform rules, and the platform has banned her account and removed the video.

In the current era of online media, many people want to gain fame by shooting short videos or live streaming, but attracting a large audience is not easy. Thus, some begin to create gimmicks in their filming themes, deliberately shooting shocking plots to trigger viewers' curiosity. In this case, Tan did exactly that—she indeed attracted a lot of attention, but also drew the police's notice. Eventually, under the pressure of law and public opinion, Tan had to confess the whole story, stating that everything was a pre-arranged script. However, due to the rapid spread of the internet, the impact of this incident had already gone far beyond her personal control, even stirring up public opinion. At this point, police intervened, and Tan had to pay the price for her immature behavior.
 
This shows that sometimes harm may not be intended, but one must still consider the bigger picture, especially when it comes to matters involving sensitive terms like “domestic violence.” This incident not only hurt the feelings of onlookers but also once again proved that the internet is not a lawless space, and everyone must be held accountable for their words and actions.
