Investigation authorities confirmed: The criminal Wang Yun, dissatisfied with her husband Feng (victim, aged 36 at the time) over trivial matters, sought revenge. On February 17, 2017, Wang Yun purchased a bag of sodium nitrite (harmful to humans; consuming sodium nitrite or high-nitrite foods like cured meat, pickles, and spoiled vegetables can cause poisoning and be life-threatening). On the evening of February 19, Wang Yun put some sodium nitrite into Feng's water cup. The next morning, Feng drank the water and suffered nitrite poisoning, resulting in a minor injury level two. On March 26, 2019, while working at Mengmeng Preschool Education Kindergarten, Wang Yun had a conflict with colleague Sun, a middle-class teacher, over student management issues and decided to retaliate against Sun. On the morning of March 27, Wang Yun brought the previously purchased sodium nitrite to the kindergarten.
Around 9 a.m. that day, Wang Yun took advantage of the absence of others in the kindergarten kitchen and added sodium nitrite to the eight-treasure porridge served as a snack to the middle class. The victim Wang Moumou (male, aged 5 at death) and 25 others developed nitrite poisoning symptoms after eating the porridge. Among them, Wang Moumou died of multiple organ failure caused by nitrite poisoning on January 28, 2020, despite medical treatment. Xue Moumou and 20 others suffered minor injuries of the second degree, Li Moumou and one other suffered minor injuries, and Zhang Moumou's injuries did not constitute minor harm.
[1] Court Opinion
The court found that the criminal Wang Yun, in retaliation against a colleague, intentionally added the toxic substance sodium nitrite to the food of an unspecified number of young children in the kindergarten where she worked, resulting in one death and over 20 injuries, seriously endangering public safety, which constituted the crime of throwing dangerous substances. In retaliation against her husband, she intentionally added sodium nitrite to his water cup, causing him minor injuries, which constituted the crime of intentional injury, and should be punished accordingly. The nature, motive, and circumstances of Wang Yun's crime of throwing dangerous substances were heinous, the consequences were particularly severe, and the social impact was extremely negative, warranting severe punishment according to law.
In accordance with Article 115, Paragraph 1, Article 234, Paragraph 1, Article 69, and Article 57, Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Law of the People's Republic of China, the criminal Wang Yun was sentenced to death for the crime of throwing dangerous substances, with deprivation of political rights for life; for the crime of intentional injury, she was sentenced to nine months' imprisonment; the combined sentence was death, with deprivation of political rights for life. The defendant Wang Yun and the kindergarten principal were jointly and severally liable for compensating the economic losses of the plaintiffs in the attached civil lawsuits. After the first-instance verdict, Wang Yun appealed.
After the final ruling of the Henan Provincial Higher People's Court, the appeal was dismissed, the original judgment was upheld, and the case was reported to the Supreme People's Court for approval. With the approval of the Supreme People's Court, the criminal Wang Yun was sentenced to death, with deprivation of political rights for life.
On July 13, the Jiaozuo Intermediate People's Court issued a notice: In accordance with the execution order signed by the President of the Supreme People's Court, the criminal Wang Yun was identified and escorted to the execution ground on July 13, 2023, where the death sentence was carried out.

[1] The author's perspective
Wang Yun, due to trivial life matters and work conflicts, could go so far as to kill her close loved one and cruelly harm dozens of young children, which is utterly insane and heinous! Although there is room for human sentiment outside the law, Wang Yun's mentality of treating human life as worthless and trampling on it arbitrarily has exceeded the scope of ordinary understanding. Not only was she blinded by hatred herself, but she also caused dozens of children's families to live in fear, and the severity of her actions warrants the death penalty. Although appeal is her legitimate right, the law is fair and just, never letting a bad person off nor wronging a good person. On the scales of justice, we always wield the sword of righteousness to distinguish right from wrong.
