When working at heights, fasten the safety buckle of life.
General Secretary Xi Jinping once said: "Walk the path of life well, and fasten the first button of life."
On May 4, 2014, by the shores of Weiming Lake, General Secretary Xi Jinping addressed the youth at a Peking University symposium: "The value orientation of the youth determines the value orientation of the entire future society, and since the youth are in a period of forming and establishing their values, it is crucial to cultivate their values during this time. This is like buttoning up a shirt—if the first button is wrong, all the rest will be wrong. The buttons of life must be fastened correctly from the very beginning."

There are many buttons in life, but in daily life and work, the safety button is the most important one. Anyone who neglects safety issues will inevitably face dangerous situations.
For example, in "The Story of Two Safety Helmets for Leaders and Workers": In April 2019, a worker uploaded a video on a short video platform. In the video, the worker held two safety helmets, one red for leaders and one yellow for workers. When the worker struck the yellow helmet against the red one, the yellow helmet shattered like an egg hitting a rock, while the red helmet only had a few fragments of the yellow helmet stuck to it, with no damage at all.

If even the workers' safety helmets are unsafe, how can production safety be achieved? Implementing the primary responsibility of enterprises for production safety must never become a mere formality or superficial.
According to national standards, safety helmets must comply with the requirements of GB 2811-2007 "Safety Helmets," and the selection of safety helmets must meet the specifications of GB/T 30041-2013 "Head Protection—Specifications for the Selection of Safety Helmets."
Safety applies everywhere, regardless of scale or occasion, from the individual to the entire world.
I. Recent High-Altitude Fall Warning Accident Cases in 2025
1. The Huizhou Emergency Management Bureau published on its official website a letter titled "Letter of Supervision and Handling of the Investigation into the '4·13' General High-Altitude Fall Accident during the Installation of a Sunroom at a Self-Built House in Jiulongfeng, Huidong."

2. The letter stated that around 14:00 on April 13, 2025, a high-altitude fall accident occurred during the installation of a sunroom at a self-built house in Xinlou Village Group, Jiulongfeng, Huidong County, resulting in one death.
3. According to a notice on the website of the Fujian Provincial Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, a high-altitude fall accident occurred during the secondary renovation project of Building 1# and Building 2# of Fucuo-Yuanshan Shili in Fuzhou City, causing one death, and the accident was reported 41 days late.
II. Learning from Others: Effective Prevention of High-Altitude Fall Accidents
On April 12, 2025, at 18:03, the government affairs account "Xiadu Xining" published a notice on the citywide promotion and application of the "Xining City High-Altitude Fall Responsibility 'Clarity Card'." The "Clarity Card" applies to the following types:
1. High-altitude work projects: projects involving scaffolding erection and dismantling, formwork support, basket operations, and edge and opening protection at heights.
2. Special structure projects: projects with a building height exceeding 24 meters or featuring construction difficulties such as cantilevers, large spans, or irregular structures; crowded places: construction sites for public buildings such as schools, hospitals, and shopping malls.
3. Other high-risk construction sites: various construction sites listed as key supervision targets at all levels or with potential risks of falls from heights.

4. It goes without saying that the Xining Municipal Safety Committee works very meticulously and effectively, leading the way in safety production management. The application of the "clear card" will certainly play a positive role in "clarifying responsibilities, standardizing management, and preventing risks," and will also help all responsible parties (construction units, construction companies, and supervision units) and workers clearly understand the requirements for preventing falls from heights, strictly implement safety protection measures, improve the dual prevention mechanism of risk classification and control and hazard investigation and management, and comprehensively enhance the safety level of high-altitude operations at construction sites.
5. III. Safety Lawyer's Reminder
6. "One mistake leads to total loss," resolutely eliminate "formalism" in safety work. The responsibility system for safety production is the core of safety management. In actual work, driven by economic benefits, the red line for safe development of production and business units is flexible, and the phenomenon of safety production work being "important in words, secondary in practice, and ignored when busy" has become common.
Comrade Mao Zedong once said, "This army is powerful because all who join it have conscious discipline." Safety management is not about complex discussions or empty preaching, but about concrete actions by every individual. Establishing a sound mechanism alone is not enough; we must remain vigilant at all times and keep safety as a top priority. We need to shift our focus downward, closely monitor frontline workers, and truly convey the regulatory requirements and the urgency of "one mistake leads to total loss" after an accident to them layer by layer. We must truly use "incidents around us" to warn "people around us," use "cases involving others" to awaken "those still unaware," and use "a few cases" to educate "the majority." When working at heights, one must fasten the safety buckle of life to prevent falls from heights from happening again.
