[Shenzhen Lawyers Association] Lawyers from Zhiming Law Firm Conduct Research on Community-Level Mediation Work in Yantian Subdistrict
On April 18, Liang Han, representative mediator of Zhiming Law Firm stationed in Yantian, and Liang Yaohao, community legal outreach specialist of Zhiming Law Firm, conducted mediation and community outreach activities in Yantian to advance grassroots rule-of-law development.
At the People's Mediation Office in Yantian, Representative Liang Han, following the mediation plan instructed by supervising lawyer Liu Jianhua, focused on the main points of conflict between the disputing parties. Based on legal principles and combined with reason and emotion, he gradually eliminated the unreasonable demands of both sides, successfully reducing the conflict to a minimum and facilitating a preliminary settlement agreement.
Commissioner Liang Yaohao visited Donghai Community in Yantian Subdistrict to learn about the Yantian District Government’s planning scheme and project progress for the Donghai pilot of the “grassroots law-based governance” project. He received a briefing from He Yurong, Deputy Director of the Work Station, on the current situation and challenges faced by the community in people’s mediation at the grassroots level, and together with Director He Yurong visited the Labor Dispute Mediation Committee of the Shenzhen Yantian Port Automobile Transport Industry Trade Union Federation. According to Liu Shutong, a member of the trade union mediation committee, the federation currently has 2 registered container truck drivers on its roster, and disputes arising from the affiliated operation of container truck tractor heads, as well as insurance claims disputes caused by work-related injuries and traffic accidents, emerge endlessly every day. For this reason, the trade union federation urgently needs professionals with practical legal expertise to assist in handling the legal issues arising from the above-mentioned disputes and conflicts, so that some of the disputes related to logistics in the Yantian Port area can be resolved as early as possible within the trade union mediation procedure.
Upon learning of this request, Wang Tengfeng, Director of Zhiming Law Firm, stated: At present, we can continue to support and assist the mediation work of Donghai Community and the Automobile Workers' Union through the public welfare cooperation model of "Lawyers Entering the Community." However, in the long term, issues such as how to continue effectively strengthening legal support for mediation at Donghai Community and the Automobile Workers' Union, and how to achieve seamless connection and operational procedures between grassroots mediation by communities and unions and professional mediation by the Subdistrict People's Mediation Committee, all need to be promptly reported to the relevant leaders of the Subdistrict Judicial Office and the District Justice Bureau, so that sufficient attention can be drawn during the planning process of the "Grassroots Governance According to Law" project, and the relevant procedural matters can be gradually refined and implemented.
