[Shenzhen Lawyers Association] The association held the 16th meeting of its Council.
On the afternoon of July 23, President Lin Changchi presided over the 16th meeting of the 10th Council of the Municipal Lawyers Association. Vice Presidents Zhang Cheng, Cai Hua, Yang Xiao, Zeng Mai, Han Jun, Wang Tengfeng, and 29 other council members attended the meeting. Supervisor Wei Hanjiao, Supervisor You Minghui, Secretary-General Li Tongbao, Deputy Secretaries-General Huang Hongzhen, Liu Feng, Chen Xia, and Assistant Secretaries-General Liu Juan, Yang Xin were present as observers.
The meeting reviewed ten reports, including the "Report on the Addition of Members to the Nanshan District Lawyers Working Committee," "Report on the Formation of the Pingshan District Lawyers Working Committee of the Shenzhen Lawyers Association and the Proposed List of Members," "Report on the Application to Establish the Shenzhen Lawyers Sign Language Legal Service Team," "Report on the Design and Production of Young Lawyers' Practice Kits," "Report on the Addition of Column Editors for the 'Shenzhen Lawyer' Magazine," "Report on the Organization of 2019 Intern Assessment Panel Member (Examiner) Training," "Report on Requesting the Shenzhen Lawyers Association to Serve as a Supporting Institution for the '7th Cross-Strait Lawyers (Changhua) Forum,'" "Report on the Review of the Proposed List for the By-Election of the Risk Committee Chair and the Addition of the Constitutional and Administrative Committee Vice Chair," "Report on the Disposal of Association Official Vehicles and Outsourcing of Drivers and Vehicle Services," and "Report on the Publication of the 'Shenzhen Lawyers Industry Social Responsibility Report,'" all of which were approved by vote.
The meeting discussed and studied the "Shenzhen Lawyers Association Law Firm Fee Filing Measures (Draft)." It was decided to conduct further research and argumentation, widely solicit opinions from some law firms, and refer to advanced experiences from other city lawyers associations to revise and improve the "Measures" before submitting them for review according to procedures.
Additionally, in accordance with the "Shenzhen Lawyers Association Charter," Secretary-General Li Tongbao presented an annual work report to the council and underwent evaluation by the council members. He summarized his performance over the past year from three aspects: full dedication, conscientious work, and staying true to the original mission, and pointed out shortcomings in the secretariat's work. He stated that in the remaining term, he would continue to stay true to the original mission, serve as the industry's steward and the association's housekeeper, implement the resolutions of the President's Meeting and the Council, consciously accept supervision from the Board of Supervisors, leverage his own strengths, and strive to gain more trust and support for the association and the industry's development.
After a vote, all 29 council members present cast trust votes for Secretary-General Li Tongbao's work report.
The meeting also reported on the progress of key recent work of the association, including support policies for the Shenzhen legal profession, the drafting of normative documents for government legal advisors, and the preparation of the Second Guangdong Provincial Enterprise Legal Services Forum.
After the meeting, Supervisory Board Chair Wei Hanjiao delivered supervisory opinions on behalf of the board. He stated that the meeting was efficient, procedurally compliant, and featured thorough and focused discussions. When deliberating on important issues concerning the overall interests of the profession, all council members were rigorous and prudent, adept at pooling wisdom, which is commendable. The first annual performance review of the Secretary-General emphasized rule awareness and responsibility, which is worth continuing. Despite additional work tasks, all council members remained dedicated and hardworking, which is praiseworthy. As this term nears its end, he encouraged everyone to maintain momentum, strive for excellence, and achieve more outstanding results for the development and construction of the profession.
