Recently, multiple netizens in Chengdu reported that their pet dogs were fed unknown food by strangers, leading to death. Some food contained blades, some were soaked in chemicals, and some contained isoniazid.
Case review
Xiao Ren (pseudonym) said that at the end of June, when he was walking his dog through a parking lot, the dog licked "poisoned cured meat," then convulsed and foamed at the mouth, costing nearly 20,000 yuan for treatment. He only searched a few buildings and found seven or eight spots where "poisoned cured meat" was placed.
As similar incidents increased, dog owners in Chengdu quickly gathered to try to find the poisoner. A group member went undercover in a local Chengdu chat group called "Exposing the True Face of Dog Lovers" and found that hundreds of members often discussed how to "poison dogs," with extremely hostile remarks toward dog owners. Xiao Xie and other dog owners suspect that the frequent dog poisoning incidents are related to members of this chat group.
[1] Currently, the Chengdu police have proactively intervened. The police stated that they have taken note of the relevant information and have received some reports, with the investigation underway. At the same time, they are conducting tests on suspicious substances discarded in certain areas.

[2] Those who commit arson, breach dikes, cause explosions, or spread toxic, radioactive, or infectious disease pathogens, or use other dangerous methods to endanger public security, without causing serious consequences, shall be sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of not less than three years but not more than ten years.

[5] For dog lovers and owners, these small lives are not just their pets but also family members or friends to whom they have devoted emotions. It is unforgivable, both morally and legally, for pets to be maliciously killed without reason. If the rumored "poisoning" is true, then those who turn their inner malice into actual actions must not only pay a financial price but may also bear criminal responsibility.
[6] In fact, regardless of whether these individuals aim to poison dogs or harm people, their act of spreading toxic substances in public places already poses a threat to public safety. Even if no serious consequences occur, they may still face corresponding criminal liability. If the poisoning causes serious injury, death, or significant damage to public or private property, it may constitute crimes such as spreading dangerous substances or intentional destruction of property. So, you may choose not to love, but do not harm. Though your emotions have likes and dislikes, others' emotions also have sorrows.
